Why

When it comes to designing a platform for the best creative professionalsaround the world, there are high standards to be met. For people who understand art— we expect almost all of our users to fall in that category — design largely determines whether they would use a platform or not. Therefore, before anything, we decided to fix this problem first.

How

It has not even been a year since we released our MVP to our first beta users. Since then, we have learnt a lot from our growing community, and others in the art industry. We were able to answer two important questions:

1. Who our quintessential user is, and,

2. What our user quintessentially requires.

The answers to these questions opened up a need for a redesign right away.

Who

After careful thought, we have recognized every creative professional to be our direct customer. While we have never restricted anyone with a creative talent to collate their creativity on Dextra, we realized that only professionals end up deriving value from and contributing to such a community, at least in the initial stages.

What

To easily make & maintain a good-looking portfolio. And, to find the right creative people to collaborate and grow with.

To optimize the two things above is all that we need to do in the new design. This is a record of all that it involves.
